30 and Under

I'll have some paintings in the September group show "30 under 30" at the Eexter Town Hall Gallery. It's a group show of young contemporary artists all under 30. The opening reception will be on September 10th.

Save the Date! September 17th

The opening for "Captured Dreams and Altered Realities: Paintings by Sylvea Johnson and photography by Andy Mellen at Lucy's Art Emporium will be on September 17th. Here's a glimpse of these crystalline canvas designs I am making. Tessellations are so lovely.

I'll be having some artwork printed in the next issue of Phosphorescence Magazine, due out June 18th! Check out their site HERE And I am working on a ton of stuff for an upcoming two-person September show at Lucy's Art Emporium in Dover. Busy busy busy.

I'm a cover artist + ArtPM exhibit

I'm on the cover of a magazine! And I have a two-page spread of my art in the Spring 2010 edition of Adventures for the Average Woman magazine, available HERE for preview and purchase, go grab a copy today!
Also, the ArtPM exhibit last night was a lot of fun and lots of people braved the bad weather for a serious dose of art. I only had my crummy phone camera but got some good shots of my installation and others'.

ArtPM exhibit Sat March 13th @BUOY gallery

Last month's craziness has finally come together and the ArtPM exhibit will open at BUOY gallery on March 13th at 7 PM (and goes till 'late'). From my submissions I chose a big collage of humanoid creatures, and an installation made from holographic paper, stuffed limbs and color changing lights. Come check it out!

Project Exposure Interview is now online!

I was chosen as the spotlight artist for March by Project Exposure magazine! I did a little Q&A and there's photos of new paintings. You can read my interview with them HERE
And I just dropped off my submission to ArtPM and hung my show at Adelle's. Busy day!

March show at Adelle's

I'm hanging a show on March 1st at Adelle's Coffeehouse in Dover, NH. I love that place so much! And now they'll have the best coffee AND the best art. I have some great new stuff I'm planning to put up so check it out and get an amazing cup of coffee.

ArtPM Challenge! Feb 2010

I'll be participating in the first ever Portsmouth ArtPM Challenge next month! Though not officially related to the RPM challenge, the deal is similar. During the month of February, artists must complete four brand new works of art. The whole thing culminates with a huge group exhibit of everyone's work. I won't say exactly what I'll be doing, but it will be sculpture and of course psychedelically delicious!
